My experience with Mumbai Police:
It is about BEST driver who intentionally hit my Bike on Wednesday 3rd December, 2008 at 9:30pm. This incident happened before Thakur village under construction fly over. I was on my way to the home.
Suddenly I feel something hit my Bike from the left side rear, trying to go right side & one more Bus in my right side. Continuously I was blowing my horn. I was about to crush between these two bus & I thought “gone” Approx 4-5 sec I was struggling between two bus to save my life & due to my well-wishers & god grace. Thank GOD, I am alive today. It was this BEST bus driver who swirl the bus to the right and then after hitting my Bike & he was trying to escape.
Immediately I went in front of bus with my bike & stop bus.
I asked Driver, “Give me our driver number?”
He said, “Who are you & why should I give you?”
I said “Have you seen what u have done?”
He said “nothing, I have not seen anything!”
I was shouting on him & keep asking his driver number. Suddenly I took his Driver I-Card, asked him to come police station & went to the near by Police Station & Meet duty police office.
I explain entire scenario to duty officer.
He said, you are a criminal, you took a driver –I card. This is your mistake. We will file complain against you that you harm a govt. on duty officer, may be you took his mobile phone, money etc. I said, “I took this card & told him to come police station because I wanted to bring them in fount of police.”
No of time I asked him to write my complain against bus driver for rush driving but he did not.
I said, it was just my luck I am live, duty office said “nothing has happen to you” why should I write complain.
Police said, I am a criminal.
I was crying & thinking “what wrong i have done”Duty office did not understand that, said seat here.
Approx hour time BUS Driver came & same stuff was explained by bus driver to duty office “I took his i-card & wanted to lodge complain against me.”
I was the first party who reach police station to lodge complain against the BEST driver but Duty officers has not written mine!
They have lodge BUS driver complain & finally I have to deposit 1250/- INR as fine because I took bus driver I card.
Over & above, police said how you can prove that BUS driver is wrong, rush driving etc & was shouting on me. It was a surprised for me.
I came back to my home around 2.30 AM.
My bike was damage, I was about to die but it does not value because I am a common man & do not have any higher authority contact.
In this incident, I could not understand Police? They help me or what? May be i could go behind the bar but Police officer only fine me 1250/- INR & said you can go now or ?
But I understand my country Police can not be proactive, they are reactive, and they can react only when something goes wrong!
